Step House

Step House

Planning Approval

Situated on a steep sloping plot in Sevenoaks, Step House is a contemporary, new build, five bedroom family home, replacing a poor condition 50’s house. The proposal seeks to reduce the steepness of the drive by incorporating the garage at a lower level than the existing. By using a lighter stone on this lower part of the building, the garage gives the appearance of a stone plinth upon which the rest of the house is constructed. The house itself comprises two gable ended blocks with a finned glass link building between. This link creates a double storey atrium at the centre of the building, connecting the floors of the building and creating a grand architectural entrance. The proposed materials are inspired by the local palette, with a red brick base and handmade clay tile with fins above.

Alongside its five bedrooms, this generously proportioned family house accommodates five bathrooms, kitchen and dining spaces, a lounge, home study, gym, snug, utility and a double garage.

Designed to meet high environmental standards, the house will be highly insulated, have high performance glazing, and include Solar PVs on the roof to reduce energy demand from the grid.
