Amelia Street

Our principal idea for this masterplan competition was to remove the traditional hierarchy of the street, of road, parking and pavement, and to replace this with a single surface. This proposal begins from the principles of Home Zones, but extends this idea by zoning the site by varying surfaces.

The streets are then controlled by a series of components, which organise and tidy the area. These components are scattered across this site with a geometry reminiscent of the long lost fields of the area. They are all two metres square, and through repeated size and orientation will give a consistency to the area, tying together visually the various zones of the site.
